Ladies and Gentlemen

We extend a special invitation to you and encourage you to join or re-join the Kenyan Community Abroad (KCA). For the benefit of those who may not know about this organization a brief description is included below.

KCA is a socio-political, non-partisan organisation which is currently registered in the US state of Rhode Island. It was founded in March 1997 with a view to giving Kenyans abroad a platform on which to network, exchange views and help bring change back home.

The organization has been involved in a number of high profile projects and its annual conferences and Excellence awards were held in esteem. Indeed, many prominent Kenyan and international personalities have graced functions hosted by this organization. No doubt, many of us look back to those times with a great deal of nostalgia.

In recent times, the organisation has faced a miriad of challenges. Most notably the events related to the December 2007 elections in Kenya had a significant impact on the organisation, its members as well as its operations. Indeed, we were set back a fair bit and hence the need for all of us to regroup and rebuild the organisation. Our aim is to regain its glory and take it to the next level for the benefit of Kenyans. Exciting times are ahead and we invite you to jump on board and be part of the fun.

Time has been spent rebuilding various organisational structures and now we are ready to start rebuilding the membership roll. In doing so we have endeavored and will continue to reach out to all Kenyans, more so those who are in the Diaspora. We would like to have members in every country where Kenyans are found and build up vibrant Kenyan networks everywhere.

Therefore, this special invitation goes out to the Kenyan Community in the Diaspora in general and to you in particular. Please come and join us and let us rebuild this outfit together for the sake of Kenya and Kenyans. United we will stand and divided we will fall. To join is easy and details will be provided at the end of this message.

We have learnt valuable lessons and have had rich experiences abroad and if we harness and share these lessons and experiences our people will be better off. Especially those who are planning to join us out here, whether they are going to be here temporarily or permanently.

Communities from various countries have organisations that have a great deal of meaning and relevance to the lives of their members. For instance, they advance their community interests wherever their members live and their voices are certainly recognised by authorities. Yes, we too can do it. But first we need to come together, pull together, respect one another and look out for one another.

It will be great to have a situation where we are represented in every major city/town in the world where Kenyans live. With such representation in place we expect that when a Kenya is relocating overseas for study, work or to live all they need to do is log onto our website and find a representative of KCA who’s local knowledge will make it possible for the new arrival to have a seamless transition. Yes, we can do it and there is more that we will get out of belonging to this organization.

We need to start having barazas to talk about these prospects. So please come and join us today.
